Support Jerry's Recovery After Devastating Accident

Donation protected
On the evening of June 3rd, 2025, Jerry had just made it to work and was helping to get the work zone set up so he could start his night shift. He is a fairly newly hired flagger for Hetzers Inc but is not new to his position. He quickly settled into his position and just as quickly gained a good relationship with his coworkers.

On this night, while it was like any other, Jerry experienced what anyone in a construction setting fears. While he and his coworkers were pulling needed items from a work truck, Jerry was standing in the back of the truck when a pickup truck failed to slow down and slammed into Jerry, pushing him into the work truck. His coworkers acted quickly and soon help arrived. Jerry ultimately had to be airlifted and taken to Cowley Shock Trauma in Baltimore, MD. There he was put into a medically induced coma due to the extent of his injuries and assessed by the medical team. It was determined that he lost 60% of his blood, had a broken shin bone, a large, deep laceration that extended from mid-inner thigh to his groin, and a shattered pelvis. The shin bone they were uncertain could be saved, but they have placed rods in hopes it will repair and the nerves can be saved. He will need several surgeries starting with his shattered pelvis. Jerry is expected to spend at least a month (or more in the event of other unforeseen problems) in the hospital. After his surgeries, there will be physical therapy and he will be learning to move about again, especially since the extent of his injuries are all on his left leg and his complete pelvis.

Jerry was excited to have this job. He enjoyed it and he got along really well with his coworkers. He was in the process of relocating from Baltimore to Mercersburg in hopes to settle into a quiet life with his fiancée, Jenny. All of this will have to be put on pause for several months or more, depending on the circumstances. Jerry, being the main provider, will obviously not be able to earn an income. His fiancée, Jenny, is currently staying with some of his family in Pennsylvania and will be visiting Jerry in Baltimore when possible. She plans to work but she will still face many struggles while Jerry gets better. They were about to move into a home within a couple of weeks and they are also without transportation, which furthers their difficulties. The last few months for them have ultimately been trying, but they were optimistic as things started falling into place, especially with Jerry's job. The negligence of the driver that put Jerry into this position has robbed this couple of their new start that they were so very looking forward to and felt very good about life. On top of it all, Jenny is feeling very lost and lonely. She is feeling very uncertain in many ways as I'm sure you can imagine. They would certainly appreciate some help from the community and anyone who may find it in their heart to help them keep a little optimism during this time. Jerry will surely worry about Jenny's well-being, especially in ways of her basic needs and maybe still being able to somewhat stay on track with moving into their place over time and obtaining a vehicle. Jerry will also need things over time. During this uncertain time, they will need all the help they can get from our communities. Thank you for taking time to read about this unfortunate event and an even bigger thank you for considering to help this couple during such a traumatic moment in life.
