We were college buddies, partners in endless study nights and shared dreams, both chasing the same vision: to become engineers, to build lives we could be proud of, and to give our families everything we never had. Jerry made that dream real. He became a licensed mechanical engineer, and eventually an overseas Filipino worker in Bahrain—working tirelessly, sacrificing silently, always putting his wife Jennifer and their two young children first.

But life, so full of promise, took a cruel turn.
