My parents, Jerry and Darlene VanOster, have always been the kind of people who put others first. They are loved by many family and friends, and throughout their lives, they have worked hard and helped countless people in our community. Now, they are facing a difficult chapter and need support themselves.

Recently, my father was hospitalized after a serious fall at their home. After the fall, he was transferred to a higher level trauma center due to his injuries. The fall left him with several broken bones in his face, a broken wrist, a broken rib, and a severe concussion. He spent days in the hospital, weeks in a rehab facility, and was only home for two days when he experienced a medical emergency that put him back in the hospital for several days. During this time, he underwent various tests including CT scans, x-rays, and bloodwork. Thankfully, he is now home with my mother at his side. He will have home health care visits, many upcoming doctors appointments, and possible surgery in the future. My father also has Parkinson's disease, which will affect his recovery. We are praying daily for his healing.

We know this is going to be a long journey. In addition to medical bills, home health care visits, physical and occupational therapy, and travel costs to his doctor in Columbus, my parents will need medical supplies to support my father's recovery. At this time, my mother is no longer able to work so she can be home to care for my father. The financial strain has already begun to set in and will continue to grow.
