In July of 1993, just shy of his 16th birthday, Jerod suffered a life-altering spinal cord injury in a waterskiing accident that left him a paraplegic. Despite the enormous physical and emotional challenges that followed, Jerod has lived a life of strength, generosity, and quiet perseverance. He’s been the one who showed up for others — a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Tragically, in July of 2024, Jerod was involved in a devastating automobile accident that caused a serious traumatic brain injury. His life changed overnight once again. The impact has not only impaired his memory and cognitive function but has compounded the limitations he already lived with — placing his health, independence, and future in grave jeopardy.
He has been in the hospital almost non-stop since the accident, and while his strength is still there deep down, the road ahead is long and uncertain. In addition to the brain injury and paraplegia, Jerod has been battling severe pressure sores (bed sores), which are a dangerous complication for individuals with limited mobility.
We are seeking to raise $50,000 to cover:
• Ongoing hospital and care facility expenses (next 60–90 days)
• Critical therapies for brain injury and mobility
• Treatment for severe pressure sores, which are a serious and recurring complication
• Medical supplies and medications not covered by insurance
• Home health services if/when a transition becomes possible
• Transportation for medical appointments
• Boarding for his two support-trained dogs, who are temporarily staying at their original training facility — at significant cost — in hopes of one day reuniting them with Jerod again
Jerod’s mother, who passed away from cancer in 2001, was his fiercest advocate. Since her passing, his older brother has stepped into that role with unwavering devotion. Our entire family is doing everything we can — emotionally, physically, and financially — but the burden is far too heavy to carry alone.
We are humbly asking for your help. Whether it’s through a donation, sharing this campaign, or sending prayers, we are so grateful for any support you can offer. Jerod has always been a giver — now, in his greatest time of need, we hope others can give a little back to him.
With love,
Jerod’s Family
