My brother Jermaine has been in and out of the hospital since March 2025. At the time of his first admission, he was suffering from an infection in his left foot caused by his work boots and the requirement to stand 10 hours a day as a manager of a local tire shop. Along with the infection in his left foot, it was found that he also needed a kidney transplant. He's only 47 years old.
In March, during almost a month of hospitalization, he had most of his left foot amputated due to the infection he was admitted with. During his stay, he had ports placed and a fistula attempt in his right arm that failed, resulting in a pseudoaneurysm. The fistula was for dialysis which he still requires 3 times per week. Just a couple of days later, he required further amputation on his left foot.
On April 22, 2025, Jermaine was bathing at home when an artery in the failed fistula ruptured, causing him to nearly bleed out before getting help at the hospital. That artery ruptured a total of three times, necessitating a transfer to another local hospital with a trauma unit. While trying to staunch the bleeding, a tourniquet was left in place too long by staff, causing his right arm and hand to deteriorate due to no blood flow.
On July 7, he was admitted to the hospital again for clogged ports that needed to be replaced. Also a staph infection from the amputated foot was detected and that infection made it into his blood. Treated and released to home care he missed a entire week of dialysis treatments due to a lack of transportation services. On July 25, he went into the emergency room for dialysis and a blood transfusion. His blood pressure dropped, resulting in cardiac arrest. After 17 minutes of efforts on the hospital’s part, he was resuscitated and placed on a ventilator. Jermaine remains in the hospital and is in need of your help.
After several attempts to start SSI disability and Long Term Disability, it has been over 5 months since he has received any compensation from work. This has resulted in the loss of his bank account and placed his family and his finances in severe danger. We are looking to raise $25K in order to help with medical bills, in-home health care, and transportation for dialysis.
We greatly all help and efforts and ask that you please keep my brother Jermaine uplifted in prayer.
