Support Jerie’s Kidney Transplant Journey

Donation protected
My name is Jerie, and I’m raising funds to help support my family and me as I wait for a kidney transplant. For over five years, I’ve been on dialysis, and the process has taken a toll on my health, energy, and ability to work. My husband, who is disabled, and I have faced years of financial uncertainty—waiting over five years for his Social Security Disability to come through, with only my salary to support us. Now, as my health requires more time for dialysis and medical appointments, I’m working fewer hours and have exhausted all my paid time off. The stress of trying to keep up with rent, utilities, groceries, and basic living expenses is overwhelming. On top of that, I need to cover gas for frequent trips to medical appointments and transplant clinics, some of which are far from home as I try to get cross-listed in hopes of receiving a kidney sooner.

My son is about to turn 16 and is eager to help by getting a job, but we’re struggling to afford his car insurance and the gas he’d need to get to work. We’ve just started to see a bit of light after years of hardship, but now we’re facing another uphill battle. Receiving support through this fundraiser would help us keep a roof over our heads, put food on the table, and relieve some of the financial stress that’s been weighing on us for so long. More than anything, I want to regain my health and energy so I can be there for my son and husband—not just as a caretaker, but as a mom and partner who can enjoy life with them. Once I receive my transplant, I hope to pay it forward and support others facing similar challenges. Your help would mean the world to us as we navigate this difficult journey.

This request has been over five years overdue, but those who know us understand that we are private people and don’t often reach out for help. We’re used to being the ones who help others, but now we find ourselves in need. While it’s not easy to ask, my family’s health and welfare are most important, so it’s time to reach out. We are extremely grateful for any support, and if you’re reading this, please help share our message. Thank you for your kindness and, if you happen to have O positive blood type and a spare kidney, that would be a true blessing.
