Support Jeremy's Spinal Cord Injury Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Kelsey, and my boyfriend, Jeremy, a proud father of two amazing children (ages 6 and 9), and disabled Navy combat veteran was involved in a traumatic motorcycle accident February 15, 2025, where he sustained multiple rib fractures, fractures to both scapulas, and fractures in the C2, T7 and T8 vertebrae in his back and neck, resulting in a spinal cord injury. His injuries required four surgeries, and he is currently paralyzed from the mid-torso down with a long recovery journey ahead of him.
At this time, we do not know if he will ever regain function in his legs. He is still being treated in the hospital and will have to remain in a hospital until his injuries have healed enough for him to go to inpatient rehabilitation. We hope to get him into a rehab that will give him the best chance at adjusting to his new lifestyle, regaining his independence, and hopefully a chance of someday walking again. While we are just happy that he is alive, he is understandably struggling with this situation and wants to be able to walk his daughter down the aisle someday, so we want to do everything we can to help him achieve this goal, if it is a possibility.
The accident occurred in Orlando, Florida, where he is currently in the hospital recovering, however, he and the rest of his family live in Tennessee, and we want to move him closer to home for IPR (inpatient rehab). Unfortunately, while he does have insurance, we are realizing there are going to be a lot of costs that are not covered because of the extent of his injuries, rehab needed over a long period of time, modifications needed to his home and car to make them accessible, and other related expenses. It’s looking like medical transportation to a rehab closer to home (across state lines) will not be covered by insurance and will be very costly, but we are hoping he is able to go to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, because it is the closest rehab to home that specializes in Spinal Cord injury. Being somewhere closer to home so his kids will be able to visit him is a priority for us.
As you can imagine, this is a very emotional and stressful time, and any contributions to his recovery would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to contribute to the costs, please keep him in your prayers.
Thank you,
Kelsey
