On April 13th, our lives changed suddenly.
My name is Jersey, and I’m reaching out for help for my dad, Jeremy. He is one of the funniest, most hardworking people I know, and truly an amazing dad. He has spent his life working in construction, doing everything he can to support our family and provide for us.
That day, my mom called me while I was at work to tell me my dad had been rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with a collapsed lung along with a severe infection. He had to be placed in the ICU and have a chest tube inserted to drain a large amount of infection from his lung. Right now, he is relying on only one lung to breathe, and even that is causing him a lot of pain and difficulty.
While he is now stable, his condition is still very serious and could change at any time. His infection is still extremely severe and continues to produce fluid, and doctors expect him to be hospitalized at least until April 19th, if not longer.
This has all come at an incredibly difficult time. Back in February, my dad tore his meniscus at work and has already been out of work since then, relying only on workers’ compensation, which hasn’t been enough to cover our basic needs. Now, with this emergency hospitalization, he will be out of work for even longer.
To make things even harder, my dad does not have health insurance. The medical bills from his hospital stay, treatment, and ongoing care are going to be overwhelming. On top of that, he is diabetic and already has regular medical expenses to manage.
The hardest part is seeing him worry more about how he’s going to pay for all of this than focusing on getting better. No one should have to choose between their health and their financial stability.
As his daughter, it’s incredibly difficult to see him go through this. I’m currently in college, and my brother and I are doing everything we can to help, but we can’t do it alone.
We are asking for any support you can give—whether that’s donating or simply sharing this page. Every little bit helps more than you know, and it will go directly toward his medical bills, living expenses, and helping our family get through this incredibly challenging time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story, and for any support, prayers, or shares. It truly means everything to us.
