I am overjoyed to announce a wonderful opportunity for our son. Jeremy has worked hard to do well in school and always excels at whatever he puts his mind to. He has above a 4.0 GPA and is #1 in his sophomore class. He has now received the opportunity to go to the National Youth Leadership Program for Engineering. It does cost more than we can afford, but we are dedicated to making sure he can go. This opportunity not only comes with a certificate upon completion, it also comes with college credit that can be applied to his future education. Please help us raise enough to pay for his class, travel, food expenses, etc. The class includes him staying on the school campus and meals, which costs $4,524( we are setting up a payment plan so that we can use funds to secure his spot). We will need gas money to take and pick up Jeremy at the campus in Berkley, CA, which with gas prices and the mpg on my vehicle we believe it will be about $150 each way, so a total of $600 for transportation (as long as prices do not go up). Due to the long drive (7-8 hours) we will also be planning on staying at a reasonably priced motel to rest. We will be leaving the day before his class starts, staying at a hotel, transporting him to the university, then driving back. Then my husband and I will be driving back down the day he is done, and planning on staying in a hotel that night before driving home the next day. Hotel costs should be around $130(including taxes), so it will be about $260 for the hotel expenses. We also would like to use any funds after those expenses (about $600) to get Jeremy a haircut, new clothes and shoes so he is dressed for success. He will also need a little bit of pocket money to buy any additional food or drinks he may want or need, and maybe a sweatshirt for memorabilia. Any help is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to the future that Jeremy has been working to achieve. Close of registration is May14th, but we would really like to enroll him sooner to secure his spot.
