UPDATE: It is with saddened hearts that Jeremias has passed away on Monday December 1st. All donations will be going towards his celebration of life and supporting his family.
My name is Kayla Leiphart and I am Jeremias’s fourth grade teacher. I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of his family as they navigate an extremely difficult and unexpected medical diagnosis.
Last Friday, Jeremias suddenly became very sick. What seemed like a normal illness quickly turned into something far more serious. After being taken to the hospital, he was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer that comes on fast and hits hard.
Jeremias has been in the hospital since that day and is currently extremely sick. Everything in his family’s world changed in a matter of hours.
Jeremias is one of four children, and his family is doing everything they can to be by his side while also caring for his siblings. They are currently on the waitlist for the Ronald McDonald House, which can help with some meals and overnight stays, but there will still be many needs, challenges, and unexpected expenses ahead as they begin this long road.
Anyone who knows Jeremias knows he is a strong, motivated, athletic boy with such a bright spirit. Our school community loves him deeply, and we want to support his family so they can focus entirely on helping him heal.
Any amount you feel to give will truly make a difference. Thank you for helping us stand with Jeremias and his family during this incredibly difficult time.
