Help Bring Between Walls and Windows to Life

Hi everyone, my name is Jeremiah, and I’m an artist finishing my senior year at UNC Asheville. For my final show, I’m creating a large-scale stage production that explores how the spaces of adolescence such as bedrooms, cars, and parking lots blur the line between safety and exposure. It’s called Between Walls and Windows, and I need your help to make it possible.

What the Project Is

Between Walls and Windows isn’t just a gallery show or a concert, it’s an immersive performance. It brings together:

-40 paintings that move onstage like performers

-Digital projections that shift the atmosphere in real time

-An original live sound score composed and performed by the band Dear Uncle Frank

-A transforming stage environment that mirrors the fragile spaces of adolescence

In the Diana Wortham Theater, paintings will rise and fall from the fly system, musicians will play live, and audiences will be surrounded by changing images and sound. The theater itself becomes an in-between space, intimate yet exposed, just like the places where many of us first learned what it feels like to be seen.

Why It Matters

Adolescence is both tender and terrifying. This project stages that tension and asks:

How do the spaces we grow up in shape who we become?

What does it mean to be watched, by family, peers, or digital culture?

I want audiences not only to think about these questions, but to feel them through sound, image, and space. This project is the culmination of my time at UNC Asheville, but also the first step in my career as a cross-disciplinary artist.

What I’m Raising

I’m raising $5,550 to cover the essential costs of making this project happen at the Wortham Theater, the only venue in Asheville with the infrastructure to support this scale of stage design.

Here’s the breakdown:

Venue rental & rehearsal: $2,600

Labor (tech crew, sound engineer, ushers): $1,500

Paints, brushes, solvents, roofing paper (painting surface): $500

Projector & camera rental for visuals & documentation: $550

Wood & track system for set construction: $400
