Standing with Jen against HER2+ Cancer
Organized with love by her life-long friend, Karie.
Dear friends, family, and everyone who believes in the power of prayer and coming together to help. I'm reaching out for someone incredibly special, my life-long friend, Jen O’Brien-Mobley. She is facing a devastating cancer. She was recently diagnosed with Her2+ Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. It is an aggressive form of breast cancer that effects 15-20% of women.
She began her journey with her port placement and recently started chemotherapy. Her husband Tim has been there for multiple appointments, exams, reexams, second opinions, and biopsies, making the decision to be there as support for Jen. This takes him away from his work, which affects their household income, along with Jen being limited with what she can do. Both Jen and Tim are small business owners and although they have insurance to help cover the cost of care, bills are still coming in from a variety of things. Specislist visits, emergency room visits, along with items not fully covered by insurance, such as, copays, second opinions, and prescriptions. Every single specialty visit is a $90.00 copay and many expenses occur as Jen goes through the stages of this process.
Her treatment plan will continue for approximately a year, starting with the Chemotherapy, then two target therapies, along with a surgical procedure to remove the tumor & surrounding margins, and additional chemotherapy, if needed, plus radiation in the end. She has been going every three weeks for chemo and between those gaps she is given a white blood cell patch that will hopefully bring her white blood cell count back up after it has been brought down by the chemo. Her immune system will be low and she has been advised to only visit with people that are healthy.
I'm creating this page because I know many people may want to help and support Jen. This is one meaningful way that you can! Any support no matter the size will help lighten the load and give Jen and Tim some relief for healing, hope, and a CURE!
