Jenny is one of my oldest and dearest friends, and we have shared 39 years of memories together. Right now, she is facing the fight of her life. Jenny has been in the hospital in critical care for 44 days after being diagnosed with tracheomalacia, a condition where her trachea collapsed. While in the hospital, she developed pneumonia, suffered a collapsed lung, and went into respiratory distress. The situation became so severe that she was placed in a medical coma, sedated, intubated, and put on a ventilator. Eventually, she needed an emergency tracheotomy because her lungs stopped working entirely, and the ventilator had to do all the work for her. Thankfully, her lungs are now starting to do most of the work, but she remains connected to the ventilator and still has a long road ahead.
Jenny will need ongoing trach care, medical care, physical therapy, and occupational therapy as she begins her recovery. On top of her medical challenges, we are trying to keep up with her mortgage and bills so she doesn't lose her home of over 20 years. As someone who is medically retired, I simply can't do this alone. That's why I'm reaching out to the kindness and generosity of friends, neighbors, family, and anyone who knows Jenny. She has always been there for others, attending countless benefits and supporting those in need. Now, I hope she can be shown the same compassion in return. Even if you can't donate, please take a moment to send a prayer for Jenny. Every bit of support, whether financial or spiritual, means the world to us right now.
