I met Jenny ten years ago on a mission trip to Central America, and since then I’ve had the privilege of knowing her and her family. The past year has been especially difficult: last year, Jenny’s parents suffered a fire that completely destroyed their home and small business. Through the generosity of others, their home was rebuilt, but the challenges have continued. Jenny, a single mom, is living with diabetes, and her youngest daughter (Carla, age 5) recently underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor. Her second daughter, Juana, is battling lupus, her mother suffers from stage 4 arthritis in her knees, and her father is dealing with persistent UTI problems.
The present financial need breaks down as follows:
Mercedes (grandmother): $15,130 this coming year for plasma knee treatments, insulin and medications
Cesar (grandfather): $5220 this coming year for UTI medications
Jenny (mother): $4500 this coming year for insulin and blood pressure medication
Juana (second daughter, age 10) $9240 this coming year for medication to treat lupus
Carla (youngest daughter, age 5) $5910 will supplement medical needs in this coming year that are already covered by other sources

In a word, this is an impossible sum for this family. The weight of these medical challenges has made daily life incredibly difficult for Jenny and her family. Jenny is unable to work at the moment because she is caring full-time for her daughter who is recovering from brain cancer. The cost of ongoing medications, treatments, and basic living expenses is overwhelming, and the family is struggling to make ends meet. The funds raised will support this family's medical needs for the next year, helping to provide stability and hope during this challenging time.
