As many of you have heard, our dear friend Jenny has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 rectal cancer, and her world—and the lives of those who love her—has been turned upside down. Jenny is a wife, a mom, a small business owner, and a true ray of light to everyone she meets. She is self-employed, which means if she can’t work, there is no paid time off or safety net. Unfortunately, her treatment plan will make working impossible for the foreseeable future.

The road before her is long and demanding, with five weeks of daily radiation and chemo pills, followed by several months of IV chemotherapy. All of this is with the hope of shrinking the tumor. If these treatments are not successful, Jenny may face a very difficult and invasive surgery to remove it. Throughout this journey, Jenny’s focus needs to be on healing, resting, and fighting—not worrying about how to pay bills, support her family, or keep her business afloat while she’s unable to work.
