Support Jenny Smith's Battle Against Breast Cancer

This Go Fund me is to help my sweet sister, Jenny Smith, in her fight against breast cancer, and to assist her in accumulating medical bills and overall expenses.

In June of 2024, Jenny felt a lump in her breast and reached out to her primary care doctor for a mammogram. After the mammogram, she completed a biopsy and was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, and she was told this type of cancer grows and mutates quickly. This was, of course, a shock, but Jenny took this news positively and proceeded with a double mastectomy in August of 2024. Jenny had complications during her mastectomy, but the great news was, the lymph nodes closet to the tumor were cancer-free. There was another area of cancer found during her surgery that showed clear margins. Unfortunately, the margins from the tissue removed from the primary cancer site were positive, which indicates the cancer wasn't totally removed and she needed more extensive treatment. Jenny was told at that time she would complete radiation therapy.

Jenny had another surgery due to more complications from her mastectomy. Around this time, Jenny learned that her primary cancer type is Triple Negative, which is harder to treat and can spread easily. Jenny also had another type of cancer found that was hormone positive. Jenny will start an aggressive treatment of chemotherapy to ensure all the cancer is gone. Jenny will start chemotherapy in November and will be on three types of chemotherapy overall. This is expected to last around six months.

Jenny works full-time and has health insurance, which we know is a blessing. Jenny has used almost all of her time off for multiple surgeries, and did not anticipate needing six months of chemotherapy. Jenny will have many expenses from treatment to include travel expenses to the cancer center, copays, and unexpected bills such as boarding her dogs, and future surgeries to include a hysterectomy. Jenny wants to work as much as she can during chemotherapy but anticipates missing some work during treatment. Jenny would never ask for help, but she is the first to help others, has a heart of gold, and would spend her last dollar on her many nieces and nephews.
