Jenny Peden is my best friend, and she is currently facing one of the toughest battles of her life as she cares for her mother, who is fighting kidney cancer, thyroid cancer, congestive heart failure, and acute kidney injury, along with other serious health issues. Jenny has always been the rock for her family, but recently she lost both her grandmother and her aunt—her mother’s sister and mother—leaving her without the support she once had. Despite these heartbreaking losses, Jenny continues to do everything she can to care for her mom. She works as a caregiver, with her mother as her patient, but when her mom is hospitalized, Jenny doesn’t receive a paycheck. Since September, her mother has spent more time in the hospital than at home, and now she is about to be transferred to a larger hospital, which means even more travel expenses for Jenny, who wants to be by her mother’s side so she isn’t alone.

If you know Jenny, you know about her incredible heart and her dedication to helping others. She was an original founder of Shoals Angels and later worked with Angels in Flight, always putting the needs of others before her own. Even after stepping away from these organizations to care for her mother, Jenny continues to find ways to help those around her. Now, it’s our turn to support her. Jenny desperately needs help to keep a roof over her and her mother’s heads and to cover the costs of traveling for her mother’s medical care outside of the Florence area.
