I've decided to do something bold.
There's a world-changing book I want to write and if I want to birth it in 2026 I'm going to need your help!...

This is a book that will take absolutely all of my presence and attention. The other day I realized that perhaps rather than aiming for larger fundraising or finding a patron that would give me a year to write, maybe I should just raise the money to go to a special location and give myself fully to writing for a month.
To wake up in the morning, make my matcha, and write all day…
This book, which I’ve partly written, will be my greatest contribution to changing the world, splitting it open with my stories and the stories of ancient powerful women and mythological creatures that are missing from the world, like nutrients from our diets. I am going to do my part to remineralize the world soul. This is a book that will be alive with magic, and that I know will powerfully change the lives of all who read it. It will be a legacy for the return of the feminine to the world.
A contribution here means so much, and the day you hold this book in your hands you'll get to know you helped bring back these stories of the lost powerful feminine to the world...it will be such an incredible feeling to know you helped bring it into being...
So, having had this idea, I began to daydream. I decided I'd love to do it for the month of April. After all, I already live in the kind of magical place people would go for a writing retreat.
And then I remembered the boat house.
Oh, the boat house…
The "Boat House"
I fell in love with a boat house once, made from actual parts of boats. It had an alcove with a driftwood table and windows all around that looked out at the ocean. Sadly, that particular boat house is no longer for rent, but I have decided that is the feel of what I want in a writing space. (Below is an actual photo of the boat house I fell in love with!)
Then I looked up the details about a particular photo of E.B. White writing at his desk that I have always loved and felt was my perfect writing scenario, and guess what...it was a boat house, too.
So, I'm on the search for a space, whether it be a boat house or not, that makes me feel like this to spend my month writing and working on my book. For those of you who support and follow me here, I’ll be sharing my journey looking at different locations in updates over the coming weeks if you’d like to come along with me on my search for the perfect place! (I'm going to begin the search the same day I launch this, and I'll be taking photos of each place that will be sent out to everyone who donates!)
If you live on Orcas Island and may have or know of a space here is what I am looking for in a writing space:
Close to Eastsound on Orcas Island
Preferably on the water, definitely surrounded by nature
Small, simple cottage, guesthouse, tiny house or tree house
(I want to be in a separate unit rather than a room in a home)
Available ideally for March or by March 17th for one month (with some flexibility)
Need to have a kitchen and bed
(note: I'm sensitive to fragrances, strong indoor allergens and mold so I'm looking for a place free of these factors....thank you so much!)
If someone wanted to donate their space rather than rent it to me that be lovely, and would allow more funds to go toward further writing time when I'm back home!
What will the funds go toward?
I’ve made a detailed budget covering my living expenses to cover both my usual costs at home and while on the retreat, with a small buffer so I have time to get back to income-producing activities when I return. I’ve added a reasonable cost for a local vacation rental where I live, and I’ve thought of what I’ll need to bring with me down to fountain pen and printer ink!
What if you make more than the goal amount, or someone donates the space?
If more funds come in, or someone wanted to donate their space rather than rent it to me that be absolutely beautiful, and would allow more funds to go toward further writing time when I'm back home!
Will you be writing the entire book in this month?
I don’t expect to finish the book in such a short time of course, but this one month to fully saturate and immerse myself in writing would give me a profound leap toward fully bringing this through for the world.
