Hello, my name is Jennifer Viscomi. I was fortunate to be able to participate in my first medical mission trip to Guatemala in 2023. After being there and seeing the desperate need for medicine and treatment for so many, I became committed to going back and helping as many in need as we can. We are visiting an area in the Lake Atitlan region of Guatemala where the locals do not have access to healthcare since many of the areas are only reachable by boat. The absence of healthcare in the areas we have visited in the past is something that most Americans can't imagine. Our team of phenomenal physicians will be met with some emotionally hard to see illnesses and although many chronic illnesses can 't be cured, we hope to be able to give them enough medications to assist until the next team makes it to their village.
This is where your donation can make a tremendous impact. We will be the first team to visit these villages, and since these areas are not easily accessible, it is unclear when the next medical team will arrive. This means, the amount of medications we can leave behind for our patients will be monumental. That is why I am asking for financial assistance so we can purchase as many medications and medical supplies as we can. Because of this, I have set my fundraising goal for $5,000. Our in-country organizers, Maximo Nivel, arranges for us to purchase meds once in the country, where the cost of medications is much lower.
Every member of our team pays their own expenses for air travel, lodging, local transportation and food. So every dollar of your donation will go to provide care directly to the patients we touch.
We anticipate the same long lines, but since most of these patients have never seen a physician, they will wait as long as it takes and never get impatient. With each trip, the gratitude along with the grace that these patients bear while enduring their illnesses and pain is inspiring. The impact they have had a on my life is remarkable and I believe what we will give them along with the medical care, is just as important - kindness, compassion and hope.
Please help if you can.
