Support Jennifer’s GRAND Canyon healing journey

Hello friends, Dana here, hoping to raise $1500 to take my sister-in-law Jennifer and my sister Deidre camping at the Grand Canyon. As some of you already know, my sister-in-law Jennifer is fighting stage 4 Lymphoma as we speak. She and my sister Deidre, left their long time home, friends and pets in Hawaii to get the very best care for Jennifer at City Of Hope Hospital in Duarte California. Their friends and paddling community in Hawaii have been a great source of support, not only caring for their property and animals in their absence, but also fundraising for ongoing medical and housing expenses. Jennifer’s battle has been quite the roller coaster (and is far from over), in and out of the hospital, up and down with her bloodwork, on and off treatment, adjusting medication’s and doses based on reactions and what her body can tolerate. She has remained strong and hopeful throughout… And grateful, oh so grateful. My sister Deidre has been at her side, and will continue to be… always and forever! As important as the medical care is, we also know how important mental, emotional and spiritual care is in the healing process. Jennifer has been longing to visit and camp at the Grand Canyon. Deidre and I are making that spiritual, healing journey a reality this coming Thursday following Jennifer’s treatment on the 22nd. I have been preparing my horse trailer for us to camp in. Still have much to do but we will wing it, and rough it. It will be an adventure. We will be together, in nature. We will cast our cares into the depths and vastness of the Grand Canyon. On this journey we hope to also visit the deer park just outside of Williams, the historic town of Williams, Flagstaff … and on the trip home, travel through magnificent Sedona, visit Jennifer’s brother in Clarkdale, check out the ghost town in Jerome, pass through Prescott and then, back home. In all we will travel 1341 miles through some of the most mystical, magical landscapes. Jennifer must to be back by the 1st of November for a labs, doctor appointments, treatments and to prepare for an upcoming surgery to remove a cancer on her arm.

I calculated the miles and estimated around $600 in fuel, $400 in camping fees and maybe another $500 for food and/or miscellaneous activities along the way. Any money raised beyond that goal, or any surplus will go towards ongoing expenses Jennifer and Deidre incur as Jennifer continues her fight! I will keep the fundraiser opened until we return. Every contribution greatly appreciated!

I know the past couple of years have been difficult on everyone, so don’t feel obligated to contribute it if it is going to put any hardship on you. Please just follow our road trip journey to the Canyon and beyond, send out positive thoughts and prayers and call on the healing powers of nature, the elements, the cosmos…
