My name is Jennifer, and I’m currently going through cancer treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation. Because of treatment and the side effects that come with it, I am currently out of work and relying on short-term disability. Unfortunately, short-term disability does not cover my normal income, and the financial stress is starting to become overwhelming. This is very hard for me to share because I have always tried to be the one who takes care of my family and keeps everything together. But right now, between medical bills, prescriptions, transportation to appointments, household expenses, groceries, and everyday family needs, I’m at a point where I need help. Cancer has affected so much more than just my health. It has affected my ability to work, provide, and keep up with the responsibilities that do not stop just because treatment starts. My main focus needs to be getting through treatment, healing, and being here for my family, but the financial pressure has made that difficult.
