I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and my world has changed overnight. I’m preparing for surgery, oncology appointments, and radiation treatment at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital. The reality of all these appointments and the costs that come with them is overwhelming. I’m worried about how I’ll afford gas for my SUV to get to and from the hospital, and how I’ll pay for food while I’m away from home for long days of treatment. Even small things, like gift cards for gas or meals, would make a huge difference.

On top of the medical stress, I’m anxious about my job. I’ve only been there four months, so I don’t qualify for FMLA, and I barely have enough PTO to cover three days off. I’m not sure how I’ll manage financially while I’m out for treatment, or how I’ll pay for others to give me rides or help me during this time. The uncertainty is overwhelming, but I’m trying to stay hopeful and focus on my recovery.
