Support Jennifer's Bone Marrow Cancer Cure

Hello, my name is Deborah Cottrell and I am raising funds to help my friend Jennifer Grace pay for her cancer treatment-related expenses. Jennifer has been my fun and supportive friend for 30 years. Over the past several years she has volunteered and worked to support her communities in Shasta and Trinity counties in California. In 2018, the father of Jennifer’s children lost his life to cancer. In 2021, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, which had spread to her lymph nodes. She survived a tough course of treatment but pressed on. Most recently, she was substitute teaching in Trinity County. She loved working with the children and was known as the “sticker lady” teacher because she loves to encourage students and give stickers to them.

Devastating news came in March that she has an aggressive form of blood cancer. It can effectively be treated only if she receives a bone marrow transplant. Meanwhile, she has to be in Redding (45 minutes down the 299 from her home) for almost daily treatments (blood transfusions and chemotherapy) to keep her alive and to get her ready for the procedure. She will have to stay close to UC Davis in Sacramento as the time for the procedure draws near. In order to receive the transplant, she needs lodging for herself and a caregiver for multiple months near UC Davis. This will incur a substantial expense that is not covered by insurance.

Jennifer cannot stand the thought of cancer taking both of her sons' parents and is doing everything she can to receive the lifesaving transplant. She loves life and this year started a You Tube channel about wholesome home activities with her son, woven with life lessons she wanted to share and teachings to cherish every day. Funds will directly pay for her lodging expenses during treatment at UC Davis. Any remaining funds will be used for non-medical, treatment-related expenses.
