I have been invited to be a part of the 2026 Hawaii Kayak Fishing Team at the USA Saltwater Kayak Fishing National Championship in San Diego. This is a huge honor and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent Hawaii and be a woman fishing at this level. The chance to compete nationally is something I never imagined, especially with so many talented kayak fishermen and women here in Hawaii. All the work put in over the years and overcoming the fear of launching a 13ft kayak into the ocean at 3 or 4am in the pitch black (especially during whale season) has paid off. I have had an amazing finish to my fishing year, and now I am one of 13 chosen to represent Hawaii Kayak Fishing at the 2026 National Championship!

Participating in this tournament could have a huge impact on my life. It opens doors for sponsorships, partnerships, and gives me the chance to inspire other women and girls to get involved in kayak fishing. I want to be a positive role model and show what’s possible with hard work and courage. To make this dream a reality, I will need help covering airfare, hotel, rental car, kayak rental, and gear rental or shipping. The reality has set in that I will need the help of my community near or far to reach this goal.
