Support Jennifer Arlotta Baker's Breast Cancer Battle

Dear friends and family,

Many of you may already know that my sister, Jennifer Arlotta Baker, was diagnosed with a type of breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in September. This news has been devastating for her and our entire family. Thankfully, the cancer was caught early enough and has not spread to the surrounding tissue, which means that she can avoid harsh chemotherapy and radiation treatments. We are so thankful for this silver lining; however, cancer is cancer, and this will still be an incredibly difficult journey for her—physically, emotionally, and financially. She will need to have a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery on November 20th to address a large mass, and not only that, but she will be doing all of this as a single mother and the sole caregiver to her precious 9-year-old daughter, Charlotte. The last few years have already been full of challenges and adjustments for Jennifer and Charlotte, but over the summer, Jennifer made the difficult decision to relocate for better work opportunities. Therefore, this diagnosis comes at an especially tough time because they are both still in periods of trying to rebuild their lives in a new area.

I am attempting to raise around $15,000 for my sister. The majority of this goal is to cover the cost of her $10,000 deductible. The additional $5,000 is to help compensate for lost income due to the nature of her job and to help with all the additional expenses such as kennel fees for their dog while she is recovering, childcare when out-of-state family cannot be there to assist, and genetic testing. Jennifer has an interior design business, and her income is 100% production-based pay (she’s paid per project, not a salary) and this is challenging because her doctor needs her to rest completely for three weeks following the surgery. As difficult as it is for my sister to be on the receiving end of help, I know that she needs it more than ever right now to ensure that she doesn’t fall behind on bills and can focus on healing and caring for her daughter.

If there’s one thing I know about my sister, it’s that for as long as I can remember, she has been a helper. I’ve been on the receiving end of this help many times throughout my life and have witnessed the countless times that she has eagerly stepped in to support her friends and other family members. Now, it’s our turn to help and show her that she is not fighting this cancer alone. God is walking beside her through this dark valley, but I believe that He is going to walk my sister out of this with the help of loving and generous friends and family like you. Please consider donating what you can to help. No amount is too small, and all of it will be a true blessing to keep them moving forward on the road to recovery. Thank you so much for your generosity!

With gratitude,
Andrea Haboush
