Hello, my name is Jennifer.

I never imagined I would have to write something like this, but today I come to you with my heart in my hands. I am currently in Colombia because my father is in critical condition: both of his kidneys are failing, and he is hospitalized in the ICU, going through a very delicate and uncertain medical situation.

I live in the United States, but as soon as I learned how serious his condition was, I traveled urgently to be with him and to support my family during this extremely difficult time. This meant leaving everything behind from one day to the next: my job, my responsibilities, and my fixed expenses.

Right now, my greatest wish is to stay here, close to my father to visit him, be by his side, and emotionally support my family as we face this situation together. However, because I am not working at the moment, I am unable to cover my expenses in the United States (rent, bills, and basic commitments). This constant worry weighs heavily on me when all I truly need right now is to be present for my family.

This fundraiser is meant to help me cover my basic living expenses while I remain in Colombia, so I don’t have to return before I’m emotionally ready due to financial pressure, and so I can go through this process without the added stress of my life back in the United States.

Any support, no matter how small, means more to me than I can express.

Hola, mi nombre es Jennifer.

Nunca imaginé tener que escribir algo así, pero hoy recurro a ustedes con el corazón en la mano.

Actualmente estoy en Colombia porque mi papá se encuentra en estado crítico: sus dos riñones están fallando y está hospitalizado en UCI, atravesando una situación de salud muy delicada e incierta.

Yo vivo en Estados Unidos, pero al enterarme de la gravedad de su estado viajé de emergencia para poder estar con él y acompañar a mi familia en este momento tan difícil. Esto significó dejar todo atrás de un día para otro: mi trabajo, mis responsabilidades y mis gastos fijos.

Hoy, mi mayor deseo es poder quedarme aquí, cerca de mi papá, visitarlo, acompañarlo y apoyar emocionalmente a mi familia mientras enfrentamos esta situación. Sin embargo, al no estar trabajando en este momento, no tengo cómo cubrir mis gastos en Estados Unidos (renta, cuentas, compromisos básicos), y eso me genera una angustia constante cuando lo único que necesito ahora es estar presente para mi familia.

Esta recaudación tiene como propósito ayudarme a cubrir mis gastos básicos mientras permanezco en Colombia, para no tener que regresar antes de tiempo por razones económicas y poder vivir este proceso sin la presión de “mi otra vida” en Estados Unidos.

Cualquier ayuda, por pequeña que sea, significa muchísimo para mí.
