Supporting my sister Jennifer & nephew Aiden in Their Fight Against Leukemia
At just 8 years old, Aiden is fighting a battle no child should ever have to face. What began as what seemed like a simple ear infection quickly took a devastating turn after the infection worsened. Surgery was needed to place tubes in Aiden’s ears, and further testing revealed the unimaginable — Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), an aggressive and fast-growing childhood cancer that has since spread to his brain. Aiden is only 8, yet his life has been turned upside down in an instant. He is joyful, loving, and endlessly kind — the kind of child who makes friends wherever he goes, always smiling, always ready to help others, always bringing light into every room. Seeing someone so young, so full of life, now facing something so overwhelming is truly heartbreaking.
Aiden is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy, and doctors have shared that his hospital stays are expected to last a minimum of 6 to 7 months, depending on how his body responds to treatment. That means months spent in hospital rooms, long nights filled with uncertainty, painful procedures, and missed moments of a normal childhood. Because of the cancer, half of Aiden’s face is now paralyzed, a heartbreaking reminder of how deeply this illness has affected his little body. Still, Aiden continues to fight with a bravery and strength far beyond his years. As the holidays approach — a season meant for warmth, family, and joy — Jennifer and Aiden are instead facing hospital walls, fear, and uncertainty.
Jennifer has been a single mother since the day Aiden was born, always doing everything she could to give her son a safe, loving, and happy life.
