Jennie Cherry is facing a series of overwhelming health challenges that have changed her life dramatically. She has lupus, EDS with a gene mutation, dysautonomia with overlapping phenotypes of POTS and NCS, Barrett’s esophagus, and a grade 4 refractory gastroparesis. These conditions required her to undergo surgery for a permanent feeding tube, which now goes into her stomach and intestine. Over the past two years, Jennie’s medical decline has made it impossible for her to work consistently. She has endured a heart attack, multiple seizures, numerous surgeries and hospitalizations, and has even survived near-death experiences. Despite her resilience, Jennie’s financial situation has become dire since her insurance is refusing to cover basic necessities related to her feeding tube, including medical supplies, formula, and home health care. Jennie has no way to meet these expenses and is struggling to afford the essentials that keep her alive. She has always been reluctant to ask for help, but the need is urgent.
