On July 3, 2025, Jeni La Paglia lost her husband, Michael unexpectedly due to a heart attack. As she grieves this devastating loss, she is also facing significant financial burdens on her own. Jeni has been through so much. She lost her father just a few years ago and in October she lost her mother due to a stroke and her home at the same time due to Helene.

This fundraiser is to help cover funeral expenses and support Jeni over the coming months as she adjusts to a single income while continuing to recover from last year’s flooding of their home. Since September 2024, Jeni has been displaced paying for an apartment, while still paying her mortgage and all the costs associated with that home. Flood insurance did not cover furniture and certain rebuild costs, and with construction finally beginning this month, expenses are mounting quickly.

All funds will go directly to Jeni to help ease the financial stress of this transition—allowing her space to grieve and begin rebuilding her life.

This fundraiser has been organized by Laura Schilling, one of Jeni’s closest childhood friends, on her behalf.
