Thank you for the overwhelming prayers, love, and support for Jen, Jim, and Emma.
We have a very difficult update to share. Over the past several days, Jen experienced severe complications that required her to be placed back on a respirator. While there were moments where she seemed stable and even small signs of responsiveness her doctors have been closely monitoring her neurological condition.
Today 2/16 Jim had a quality-of-life meeting with both of Jen’s doctors. He was told Jen has major brain damage and that the odds are nearly zero that she would be able to return to a normal life. With unimaginable heartbreak and deep love, Jim has made the decision to sign a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate), and the medical team will begin removing life support tomorrow.
This fundraiser will now shift to helping Jim and Emma with immediate and upcoming expenses: time away from work, medical-related costs, and the many unexpected needs that come with an ICU crisis and end-of-life transition, including funeral and family support costs.
Please continue to pray for peace, comfort, and strength. If you’re able to give or share, it truly helps carry this family through the hardest days of their lives. Thank you for being here.
Initial Post
Jim is a devoted husband and dad. Last week, their family’s life changed in an instant when his wife, Jen Ross, was rushed to the hospital with septic shock caused by a sudden and severe infection. What began as a normal week quickly escalated into a life-threatening medical emergency, requiring immediate hospitalization and a medically induced coma. Jen remains under close medical care as doctors work to stabilize her condition. While the recovery timeline is still uncertain, Jim is balancing long days at the hospital with caring for their 7-year-old daughter, who attends Inspire’s Elementary, while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy during an unimaginable time.
This sudden and traumatic experience has placed an enormous emotional and financial strain on Jen’s family. Jim has been at the hospital every day, caring for Jen and supporting their daughter through the uncertainty. The mounting medical bills, time away from work, childcare, ongoing living expenses, and the need for comfort and stability during this tumultuous time have created challenges that no family should face alone.
This GoFundMe was created to help ease the financial strain that comes with an unexpected medical emergency—medical bills, time away from work, childcare, and the many unplanned expenses that arise when a family is suddenly in crisis. Every contribution, share, or message of support helps give Jim the ability to focus on what matters most right now: supporting Jen’s recovery and being present for their daughter. Please consider contributing to help this loving family get through one of the hardest chapters of their lives. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated.
