Dear Friends and Family,

We are reaching out for your help in an incredibly challenging time for our family. In October of 2023, our world was turned upside down when our mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. This aggressive form of cancer has unfortunately spread to her bones and brain, and more recently to her stomach and ovaries.

Despite this devastating news, our mom has faced this battle with incredible courage and resilience.

Initially, she underwent radiation and chemotherapy, but due to severe adverse reactions, she transitioned to immunotherapy. Throughout her treatment journey she experienced numerous side effects that led to hospitalization like an aversion to food that caused significant weight loss. Recently, the doctors said they were not overly worried due to there being only a mere 2% chance the cancer would have spread. Unfortunately, our mom was that 2% and the cancer had in fact spread to more areas in her body.

Now, she is about to start a newly approved treatment, amivantamab-vmjw, designed for lung cancer that has metastasized and cannot be removed surgically. We are hopeful that this treatment will offer some relief and possibly more time. Unfortunately this treatment is not financially covered and will need to be paid out of pocket.

On top of this, our family home suffered a massive leak, resulting in the basement being completely gutted and in need of extensive repairs. This unexpected incident has added significant stress to our already overwhelming situation. Our mom, who deserves nothing more than comfort and peace during this time, cannot even relax in her own home.

You would never think this would happen to your mom, let alone your life-partner of over 30 years. Our dad has been a pillar of strength for our whole family, it is this exact strength and unwavering determination he stands strong beside our mom. To be with the love of his life, he has taken a lot of time off work to support her through numerous appointments and treatment sessions. This has put a huge strain on our family’s finances, as our parents are now relying on a single income stream.

Our mom was once devoted to helping children through speech therapy. It is heartbreaking for her knowing that she will never be able to return to work. Loosing not only her passion, but her ability to continue helping other families has been a devastation to many. Now, we are humbly asking you to dedicate some of your time and resources to help her. Your donations will go towards the new treatment, future medical expenses, transportation costs, and the repairs needed for our family home. Any amount will make a significant difference and allow our mom to focus on her health and recovery.
