Jelani is a 23-year-old single father and the youngest of six siblings. Once a dedicated football and track athlete, he’s always been known for his determination and love for his 5-year-old son. Recently, Jelani’s life changed dramatically when an undiagnosed kidney disease was discovered at stage 4. The late diagnosis meant he had to start dialysis immediately, and the strain on his body soon affected his heart, leading to the need for both a heart and kidney transplant.

After a successful surgery, Jelani now faces a long road to recovery. He is currently unable to work and must remain close to the hospital for a month of intensive monitoring.
