Hi everyone,

My name is Josephine, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of my cousin, Jeffry Gutierrez, a 33-year-old loving husband, devoted father, and one of the most humble, lighthearted people you’ll ever meet.

In June, Jeffry was diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of stage 2 lung cancer. After months of recurring pneumonia, doctors finally discovered a tumor in his upper bronchial and lung area, which was causing severe breathing problems. He now has a drainage bag inserted to help remove fluid buildup from his lungs, just so he can breathe more comfortably each day.

Jeffry lives in the Dominican Republic, where access to quality healthcare and health insurance is extremely limited. Despite it all, Jeffry remains positive …always cracking jokes and reassuring everyone that he’s okay, even when he’s in pain. That’s just the kind of person he is… selfless, uplifting, and always willing to help others.

He is the sole provider for his family, including his wife (a stay-at-home mom) and their 3-year-old daughter. But now, with his health declining and no ability to work, his family is struggling in every way…emotionally, physically, and financially.

Jeffry’s only hope right now is to immediately start a lifesaving cancer medication that’s not affordable in the Dominican Republic. There, just one box costs over 1 million pesos (about $16,000 USD) and he needs SIX. Thankfully, our family has found a way to get the full treatment from Canada at a much lower cost.

We’re trying to raise $6,300 to purchase all six boxes of the medication internationally, including shipping and customs fees. Time is critical. The sooner we can get this medication to him, the better his chances of survival and recovery.

Mi nombre es Josephine, y hoy les escribo con el corazón en la mano, en nombre de mi primo, Jeffry Gutiérrez, un hombre de 33 años, esposo amoroso, padre devoto y una de las personas más humildes y alegres que puedas conocer.

En junio, a Jeffry le diagnosticaron una forma agresiva y poco común de cáncer de pulmón en etapa 2. Después de meses con episodios recurrentes de neumonía, los médicos finalmente descubrieron un tumor en la parte superior de sus bronquios y pulmón, lo cual le estaba causando graves problemas para respirar. Actualmente tiene una bolsa de drenaje insertada para ayudar a extraer la acumulación de líquido en sus pulmones, solo para que pueda respirar con un poco más de comodidad cada día.

Jeffry vive en la República Dominicana, donde el acceso a la salud de calidad y a seguros médicos es muy limitado. A pesar de todo, él sigue manteniendo una actitud positiva, siempre con una sonrisa, haciendo chistes y asegurando que está bien, incluso cuando está sufriendo. Ese es Jeffry… siempre dándolo todo por los demás, con humildad y alegría.

Él es el único proveedor de su hogar, que comparte con su esposa (ama de casa) y su hija de 3 añitos. Debido a su enfermedad, ya no puede trabajar, y esto ha puesto a su familia en una situación muy difícil.. emocional, física y económicamente.

Jeffry necesita comenzar un tratamiento médico que puede salvarle la vida, pero en República Dominicana una sola caja cuesta más de 1 millón de pesos dominicanos (aproximadamente $16,000 USD) y necesita seis cajas en total. Afortunadamente, nuestra familia encontró una forma de conseguir todo el tratamiento desde Canadá a un costo mucho más accesible.

Estamos tratando de recaudar $6,300 USD para comprar las seis cajas del medicamento, incluyendo los costos de envío y aduana. El tiempo es crucial. Cuanto más rápido podamos conseguir el medicamento, mejores serán sus posibilidades de recuperación.
