Meet Jefferson

Jefferson is 13 years old and has had more heartache than any dog should. To our knowledge, he lost his elderly owner and was passed to a family member who neglected him and kept him chained outside — until he escaped and ended up at a shelter. He was then adopted by another elderly gentleman, but sadly, his new owner passed away shortly after.

With no one in the family able to care for him, Jefferson was facing surrender to a shelter… or euthanasia.

We don’t know what else this poor guy has had to face in his life, and it’s truly heartbreaking. What we do know is, (You guessed it!) we rescued him yesterday, not realizing the full extent of his condition. At some point in the time before he reached us, he suffered an eye injury that caused his eye to collapse. The vet says the only way to make him pain-free and comfortable is to remove the damaged eye.

We want Jefferson to live out his golden years happy, healthy, and free from pain — but we can’t do it without your help.
