On October 26th, Jeff was preparing his camper for a trip to Texas when he fell off a ladder, breaking his neck, back, and nose. Despite the severity of his injuries, Jeff was able to call for help and was quickly transported to Parker Adventist Hospital, where he underwent surgeries to repair the fractures. Remarkably, his spinal cord appeared to be undamaged, and his recovery was initially going well. The next step was to move him to an acute rehab facility for extensive physical and occupational therapy to help him regain his strength.

Unfortunately, Jeff has faced a significant setback with ongoing infections, which have kept him in and out of the ICU for several weeks. While he is receiving excellent medical care, his condition remains medically fragile, and his doctors are treating his care day-by-day rather than focusing on long-term planning. This uncertainty has made it difficult to know when Jeff will be able to return home and resume his normal life.

Throughout this challenging time, Jeff has been surrounded by incredible support from family, lifelong friends, and his dog community. One of the most frequent questions we receive is about his beloved Golden Retrievers—Trane, Theo, and Louie. Thanks to a generous friend who owns a boarding kennel near Peyton, CO, the trio has been well cared for, enjoying the freedom to run and play. Even with this exceptional care, the costs are quickly adding up as the boys have been there for almost six weeks, with no firm end date in sight. This fundraiser is to help defray the costs of their continued care, giving Jeff one less thing to worry about as he focuses on his health.
