Support Jeff Thorne's Battle Against Rare Stomach Cancer

I’m reaching out today to request your support for Jeff Thorne (53 yrs. old), who is currently battling a rare form of stage 4 stomach cancer. Jeff is a beloved father, son, friend and coach who is an incredibly strong and resilient individual. He has always been a beacon of strength, leadership, and faith—impacting countless lives through his dedication to coaching and mentoring others. A former football coach who led his team to a National Championship at North Central College, Jeff has always pushed others to reach their fullest potential.

What’s Happening Now:

Jeff was diagnosed with stomach cancer in February, 2025. After nine rounds of chemotherapy / Immunotherapy and intensive surgery at Mayo Clinic, the cancer has unfortunately spread beyond the point of being effectively operable, leaving him with few options within the realm of traditional medicine. Unfortunately, stomach cancer research accounts for less than 1% of the NIH's cancer research allocation.

While this news is incredibly difficult to accept, there is still hope through alternative treatment options that are not yet covered by insurance. These treatments have shown significant promise for those in similar situations and offer potential for Jeff. These options include:

Immunotherapy: Treatments designed to help the body’s immune system recognize and fight cancer cells. This cutting-edge approach is still in clinical trials for certain cancers but has been proven to work for some individuals with late-stage cancer.

Targeted Therapy: These therapies aim to target cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy cells. Although still experimental for stomach cancer, targeted treatments have been successful in other cancers, offering hope for an improved quality of life.

Holistic and Integrative Approaches: Many patients are turning to holistic treatments such as nutritional therapy, acupuncture, oxygen treatments, red-light therapy and mind-body healing techniques. These are aimed at supporting the immune system, reducing side effects, and improving overall wellness during treatment.

Clinical Trials: There are ongoing clinical trials that Jeff may be eligible for involving new, unapproved treatments or drugs that could potentially slow the progression of the disease. However, these trials often require travel and significant out-of-pocket expenses, not to mention the uncertainty of treatment efficacy.

Experimental Treatments & Personalized Medicine: Some doctors and cancer centers are offering personalized medicine, which tailors treatment to an individual's unique genetic profile. These experimental therapies have been instrumental in extending life for many patients with similar diagnoses.
