This GoFundMe page is in support of Jeff Missinne, lover of old music, old animated cartoons, old radio programs, old movies, and old TV variety shows. He’s the go-to guy for local Twin Ports broadcast lore, the walking encyclopedia on forgotten LPs, the projector whisperer at the Laurel & Hardy club meetings, the matchless expert on everything you never knew about old-time celebrities you never heard of, and the relentless champion of obsolete technology and bad puns.
On January 21, 2025, Jeff, a lifelong resident of Superior, WI, was rushed to the hospital, suffering from necrotizing soft tissue fasciitis. Better known as the flesh-eating disease, necrotizing fasciitis is a rare bacterial infection that rapidly destroys skin, muscle, and underlying tissue and, without immediate attention, would have been fatal. There were two emergency surgeries, weeks of medical attention and supervision resulting in a hospital stay of nearly three and a half months. Jeff returned home on May 6, 2025, but his recovery has been slow and gradual. More doctor visits and some additional surgery are in the offing.
As you might guess, the medical expenses for all this have been staggering, covered for the most part by Medicare and insurance. But Jeff is still personally responsible for thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket costs not covered. Now would be a good time for the friends of Jeff (and the friends of friends of Jeff) to show up with a little helping hand. Those of us who know Jeff well realize he is a humble and good-hearted soul who traditionally asks for very little for himself. Our modest goal would go a long way to get Jeff on his feet again, literally and figuratively. Donors can rest assured all monies raised through this GoFundMe will go directly to covering his actual medical expenses. Please know that your donation — no matter how small — will make a significant difference in Jeff’s life and recovery.
