One year ago, Jeff Hare and his wife Jodie with their son Mason, embarked on a heartfelt journey to fulfill their dream of owning their forever home and starting a homestead. Their vision was to build a nurturing sanctuary for their family, a place where they could turn their dreams into reality and find joy in the everyday. This dream was Cattail Burrow.

However, their journey has been marred by a series of profound challenges. Shortly after purchasing their new home, Jodie was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), a diagnosis that brought unforeseen difficulties and tested their resilience. Despite this, Jeff and Jodie continued to face each obstacle with courage and determination.

Now, their strength is being tested once more. Jeff has been diagnosed with colon cancer, compounding the difficulties they have already faced. The financial burden of cancer treatment, combined with the ongoing challenges of Jodie’s MS, is overwhelming. To cope Jeff and Jodie had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome their beloved Mini Donkey Nugget and their flock of Dorper Sheep. Those animals were not just a part of their homestead but symbols of their dreams and dedication.

Their story of perseverance is further marked by a significant past hardship: just one month after their marriage, Jeff suffered a severe accident that led to the spinal fusion of five vertebrae and 11 months of intensive healing. This injury added a layer of physical and emotional strain that Jeff and Jodie bravely endured together. They recently celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary.
