Jeff Cunningham is a dear friend, lifelong rock climber, and talented cinematographer with a 30-year career in the film business.
Last year, Jeff, at 53, was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease and forced to retire. It's been a devastating time for Jeff, his friends, and family. Jeff says the biggest blow is how the disease gets in the way of being a father to his vibrant, 9-year-old daughter, Tenaya.
But there is hope: Jeff recently scored a spot in a year-long experimental treatment program that aims to slow the progression of Alzheimer's while additional cures come down the pipeline.
Now Jeff must uproot his life and move to the Sacramento area and shell out for a lot of new expenses: medical costs (including a monthly experimental drug at $3500 per month) moving expenses, caregiver salary, and monthly trips back to Ventura to spend time with Tenaya.
Through it all, Jeff has been his usual upbeat, resilient, and loving self. We believe in him and his ability to fight his way through this thing. So we are chipping in and asking everyone else to chip in too. Let's all help Jeff get his life back.
