Hi. My name is Zack and I work as the Director of Finishing at a pretty big design agency in Los Angeles. About 2 years ago, I had the fortune to expand my team and I hired Jed. Jed is everything you would want in a co-worker. He works hard, is incredibly talented, and is always proud to give his best effort. But more than just someone I work with, Jed has become my friend. Jed and I have bonded over our mutual love of movies and when I see a new horror or action film, Jed is the first person I think of to tell my thoughts (and get his). Because Jed is in the Philippines, he often sees things before even I get the chance to go on Opening Night. Jed is also a big Formula 1 fan, and several members of our team compare notes there as well. We all love Jed.
A couple of weeks ago, though, Jed wasn't feeling so great. He thought it was just a run-of-the-mill flu, but it lingered and didn't go away. And then it got worse. Jed went through several tests and discovered he has leukemia (Acute Myeloid Leukemia to be exact). He needed to stabilize his condition for a couple of weeks and then undergo a first round of chemotherapy. He has taken the chemo and is trying to recover as we speak. Hopefully, all it will take is 1 round of chemo but we don't know how his body will respond. Right now, Jed's vibrant personality has been muted by the treatment for his illness, and his mother tells me he is mostly sleeping. He did take a moment to send me his thoughts on Hoppers, which I greatly appreciated.
Now, I won't claim to understand how the healthcare system works in the Philippines (I can barely figure out how it works here in the US), but in speaking to Jed's mother, times have gotten tight and finances have become quite difficult. Only some of Jed's treatments and care are covered by his benefits and the national healthcare they have, leaving a large portion of the bills for Jed (and his parents) to cover.
I want to help them. If you are seeing this account, chances are you either have worked with me or have been friends with me. If we have worked together, I ask that we show Jed that our industry takes care of each other. If we have been friends, I promise if you can tolerate me, you would have a new best friend moments after meeting Jed. He is good people.
I am hoping that seeing this campaign you can find a little bit you can spare to help out someone who needs it. I know times are tight right now and we are all feeling it, but anything you can give, big or small, will be appreciated and given directly to Jed and his family for his care.
Thank you,
Zack
