Our musical family member needs our help! Jeannie Hopper is facing significant financial challenges after a health crisis.

In Jeannies words:

"This is really difficult to admit, but dealing with our broken healthcare system is leaving me exhausted, humbled and feeling that I've hit rock bottom.

When this Go Fund Me campaign was suggested to me I struggled with feelings of unworthiness - aren't there so many other people in the world in more need than me?

But the harsh reality is that I do need help financially and I've warily come to accept that it's OK to ask for help.

Not only am I dealing with the immediacy of physical healing and the daunting task of navigating our "sick" care system, there is a looming dread of the financial repercussions to come.

I've never been driven by money. I've been ok with 'getting by' as an artist following my creative spirit goddess within, dedicating myself fully to making the world a better place, leading by example and valuing my integrity above all in all I do on this planet and in my lifetime. I feel so blessed and so rich, not monetarily, but in a life measured by dedication in being in service to community, connecting creators to new fans, connecting culture to people. If I could quantify that in financial terms I'd be rich beyond imagination.

Liquid Sound Lounge is a decades-long labor of love rooted in community radio, underground culture, and collective joy.

Since launching the show on WBAI in 1993, Jeannie has used the airwaves to champion emerging artists, soulful underground scenes, and social movements, blending investigative journalism with a deep commitment to music as community care and cultural resistance. What began as a platform connecting poetry, dance, indie music, and global justice movements evolved into a beloved intergenerational community through broadcasts, legendary boat parties, artist advocacy, and grassroots organizing.

From fighting the repressive Cabaret Law and supporting musicians through organizations like Music Workers Alliance and House Music Foundation, to raising funds for causes ranging from disaster relief to listener-supported radio, Liquid Sound Lounge has consistently used music as a force for connection, activism, healing, and joy. That same spirit has manifested through youth mentorship, DJ workshops, and social justice-centered radio education with young people at the Lower East Side Girls Club.
