Hi, all, I'm making a go fund me on behalf of my mom, Jeannie Delles, to go towards medical bills and hopefully cover some expenses while she's out of work due to surgery/dr appts, etc. All funds will go directly to her so she can pay her medical bills from surgery and appointments and stuff.
As some of you may know, the last few months my mom has been struggling with exhaustion, pain in her legs, and a hard time breathing. At first we thought it was due to starting a new job and a new schedule working overnights. However, it kept getting worse, to the point of constantly being exhausted and being short of breath after short periods, and for anyone who knows my mom- this is NOT normal. My entire life I've known her to constantly be on the go, whether it be walking, working out on the elliptical, hiking, etc, for multiple miles and distances.
- On October 1st, she went into urgent care to hopefully figure out what was wrong. It was determined that she is anemic and her iron and hemoglobin levels were low. I believe it was her iron that was down to 7.7. Which when it gets down to 6-7 they do transfusions. She was referred to a specialist to find out why her iron was so low, and was started on iron transfusions. She has had a few CT scans, and had a colonoscopy done along with an endoscopy. During the colonoscopy they found a 4cm mass, which was determined to be cancer. She's had many blood tests done, and on October 21st her hemoglobin count was up to 8.7.
On October 23, she got her results from the colonoscopy and it was determined that the cancer is called Invasive Adenocarcinoma Colon Cancer, and is moderately aggressive. We don't know the stage yet, she won't know the stage or if its in her lymph nodes until she has surgery, which she met with the surgeon on October 25th. As of now, when they do surgery, they're doing a minimally invasive surgery to remove the mass and the right part side of her large intestine, a portion of her small intestine, her appendix, and some of her lymphnodes, which will help determine if it's in her lymphnodes. Surgery will be approximately 3 hours, providing there are no complications and they don't find anything else. She will be in the hospital for a few days, and out of work for approximately 6 weeks, pending the results. After the surgery she will find out the stage and the next steps for care.
I will be providing updates as we get them.
Update 11/5/24:
Mom heard from the surgery center today. She has surgery next Wednesday, 11/13 at 8am. Surgery will be approximately 3 hours long, providing they don't find anything else and have to open her up and there's no complications. Recovery is about an hour and she will be admitted to the hospital for approximately 2-5 days, and out for work for 6 weeks.
