Help the Tibbs-Whitefield Family After Tragic Accident

Hi, my name is Chelsey Swanson and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my best friend, Jeanette Whitefield-Tibbs and her mother Brenda Whitefield.

Jeanette and her family (mom Brenda, daughters Ivy - 3 years and Isla - 9 months) were driving along a main road when a car coming from the opposite direction crossed the middle line suddenly and hit them head-on. Jeanette and her mom were taken in an ambulance to Harborview for their injuries. By the grace of God, the girls so far have only sustained scratches, a seatbelt burn, and some mental trauma for Ivy.

Jeanette sustained a severe concussion, a lip laceration requiring 15 stitches to sew her lip back together, a right hand injury, and sprains to the neck, mid-back, and ribs. With her injuries, she will be off work for a minimum of 3 weeks and then likely can’t return to full-time for the near future with her mom being one of her main childcare sources.

Brenda is still in the hospital due to the extent of her injuries; sustaining a left femur fracture which required immediate surgery, a right patella fracture, and ligament tears which avulsed part of the tibia in her knee, fractures along her spine from mid to low back, and a fractured sternum. They are still waiting to hear if the other injuries will require surgery, but she plans to discharge home hopefully this week.

Once she does return home, she will be wheelchair-bound for the time being and need 24-hour care, so modifications will need to be made to the home.

While all of this is being handled legally, there are a lot of out-of-pocket expenses right now and some things insurance may not cover. Please give anything you can to help this family. They have a long road ahead for healing and recovery.
