Hello everyone, my name is Jeanette. Thank you for taking a moment to read my story.

In March 2025, I was laid off from my part-time state job of nearly eight years. As a retired annuitant, I relied on that income to supplement my limited fixed income, but due to California’s budget crisis, retired annuitants were the first to be let go.

I also help to provide medical supplies for my son, who has special needs after a stroke. Losing my job has made it extremely difficult to manage these necessities.

At this time, with my physical limitations, returning to suitable work would be a major challenge for me, especially since my car was involved in an accident and totaled & I have not been able to regain transportation since then.

With a fixed income, I’ve gotten under water with my expenses. I’m reaching out because I need help with essentials such as food, basic living expenses, including utilities.
