Support Jean Travers and Family After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
As you may know, Hurricane Helene hit the southeastern US pretty hard. Many homes have been destroyed, families left in shock, and lives forever changed, including ours. No one would have ever suspected a hurricane would hit the mountains of Western NC, much less with the force and power that Helene brought.
My mother, Jean Travers, has spent years developing and leading a team of "Stormies" who book hotels for linemen crews all across the US, bringing aid in the wake of hurricanes and snow storms alike. She's brought nostalgic joy to the Blue Ridge, revitalizing memories of rock-n-roll in the mountains and better times at P.B. Scotts in Blowing Rock. For the past three years, she has lived full-time in Ashe County, caring for her aging parents as they battle cancer, surgeries, and trying health crises. Most of which, she has done from the back deck of a little mountain cabin, overlooking the scenic New River.
In the days before Helene hit, the banks of the New River began to swell well beyond the 500-year flood plains, including that which our multi-generational mountain home sits. Floods surged into their houses, completely submerging the bottom half of my grandfather's home and all but destroying my mother's. Countless irreplaceable memories, mementos, and everyday items were either destroyed or swept away. We are Mountain Strong and have already begun to rebuild, but we need your help! Please consider donating and helping us rebuild our mountain home; any amount is helpful, and we greatly appreciate you!
All proceeds at this time will go to rebuilding both my mother's and grandfather's homes. The damage is great, but your friendship and our good Lord is greater! We thank you for your consideration.
