A few months ago, my dear friend JD Barnes unexpectedly lost the mother of his children. In an instant, everything changed for him and his beautiful six-year-old daughter, Shavve. While grieving an unimaginable loss, JD has stepped into the role of full-time father, doing everything he can to support his daughter while they both learn how to navigate a new reality without someone they loved so deeply.

JD is an incredibly talented photographer, a devoted father, and one of the most responsible people I know. He is also a very private person, which is why I am creating this fundraiser on his behalf. Over the past several months, I’ve tried to support JD and Shavve however I could. I’ve made meals, taken Shavve trick-or-treating, spent time with her during the holidays, taken her hiking, and simply tried to be present during such a difficult time. But the truth is, this is bigger than anything one person can carry alone.

Along with the emotional weight of this loss, JD is now facing financial hardship and the possibility of losing his home. The thought of Shavve losing her mother and then potentially losing the place where she feels safe absolutely breaks my heart. Our goal is to raise funds to help cover back rent, prevent eviction, and provide some stability as JD and Shavve find their footing and begin to rebuild their lives.

I am asking our community to come together and help a good father who is doing everything he can.
