Support JC's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
HI, I’m Kirsten Jones,
I did not feel it right asking for support from our family, friends and community without sharing our family’s story. The story of my brave family starts way back in 2022, sadly we are continuing to face immense challenges that will continue for months to come.
As a result of our story, JC has been able to work very little since 2022, we were embarrassed to ask our friends/family and the community for help but as the years continued, we now have no choice.
Our family consists of me, mom! my husband JC who is such a loving father, two amazing children, Florence and Atticus. How lucky are we to also share our home with 2 beautiful pups and 3 naughty cats.
For those of you that don’t know us really well this story I’m about to share in a couple of minutes is intertwined with heartache, sadness, mental health, rock bottom moments, craziness, joy and laughter thrown in here and there.
The night was Nov 17th 2022, Dodgers stadium, Elton John concert, JC had a fall which was to change our family forever. JC spent the majority of the next year in and out of hospital due to initial incompetent surgery, irresponsibly prescribed medication which placed him back in hospital with a saddle embolism with hours to live. Surgery redo’s and learning to walk again. JC lived in a hospital bed in our garage to avoid stairs for almost a year.
Florence and Atticus, I am so proud of, they have both had they own private struggles as you can imagine over the years. Me, broken hearted, felt all the feels as I nursed JC, tried to protect Florence and add a little time to say Hi to Atticus. I hit rock bottom and was picked up to push on again because of our amazing family and friends. Florence and Atticus have handled this period with strength and maturity all the while coming home every day to see her dad suffering.
Things started to look up for our family and life seemed to be creeping back to a somewhat disaster free period. I was able to do what I love to do and work as much as possible designing some beautiful spaces I’m very proud of…. JC started working again on a regular basis. There where smiles in the house.
JC started to have stomach complication on a daily basis which eventually lead us to April 10th 2024 when post colonoscopy in a gloomy hall of a hospital we were to learn that JC had stage 4 cancer. After multiple tests and scans it was confirmed that the colon cancer had spread to his liver and lymph nodes, metastatic cancer at 46.
After battling insurance we began Chemotherapy at USC Norris Cancer Hospital, this becoming an expensive and lengthy journey. Watching someone undergo Chemotherapy and see them in pain 24/7 is again something I wanted to protect my children from but not possible. Their amazing strength for their Dad continues.
JC continues on his fight to beat this horrific disease and will begin to undergo a series of surgeries and more chemotherapy, with the hope of avoiding radiation. Our financial resources have been exhausted due to the loss of work since 2022. JC works contract so he only bills the hours he works. The medical bills, mortgage payments and everyday expenses, without his regular salary, we are struggling to make ends meet and ensure JC receives the care he desperately needs.
We kindly request your support in the form of a donation to our Go Fund Me campaign. Your contribution no matter how big or small will significantly impact our journey towards a lot of healing needed and a lot of hope.
Please share this with family and friends and social networks, the more people who become aware of our families situation, the greater the chance of reaching our fundraising goal and making a lasting difference in our lives.
Our goal is in the years to come to “pay it forward” and help someone else who has fallen on bad times too.
