At John Brown University, we believe in engineering with a purpose. This year, we aren’t just building a vehicle; we’re building a legacy.
The idea started with Braden Walker, who saw the incredible Formula SAE projects at larger universities and wondered: "Why not us?" As motorsports enthusiasts, Braden and Arpi knew we had the passion, but we just needed a project that matched the grit and resources of our small but deeply committed engineering team that we created.
Why Mini Baja?
We chose the Mini Baja competition because it’s the perfect blend of high-intensity mechanical engineering and financial feasibility. It’s an off-road challenge that requires us to design, build, and race a single-seat vehicle from the ground up.
What Makes This Project Special?
- The JBU First: This is the first time in university history that a team has attempted to launch a Mini Baja program.
- A Lasting Legacy: This isn't a "one and done" senior project. We are designing this to be a continuous capstone program.
- Cross-Class Collaboration: Our goal is to create a pipeline where underclassmen gain hands-on experience by assisting seniors, fostering mentorship, and technical growth across all engineering grade levels.
- Resourceful Engineering: We are proving that a small, dedicated team can compete at a national level through smart design and efficient funding.
Where Your Support Goes?
Every dollar raised goes directly toward the raw materials and components needed to bring this machine to life:
- Chassis & Safety: Steel tubing for the roll cage and harness systems.
- Drivetrain: Transmission components, suspension, and rugged off-road tires.
- Most importantly, Competition Fees, to help our team get to the start line to represent JBU.
We have the skill and the passion, but we need your help to turn this vision into an competitve car. By donating, you aren’t just buying a part; you’re investing in the future of JBU Engineering and helping us start a tradition that will challenge students for years to come.
As our reciprocation, every donor's name will be represented on our car, to show that our team values your donation.
We are also open for sponsorship, so if your company is willing to help us out by providing parts, fabrication, manufacturing, or anything else we are more than happy to work with you!
