Hi, I’m Jazmin. I’ve been on dialysis for 7 long years. What started as preeclampsia during pregnancy ended up damaging my heart and kidneys, eventually leading to end-stage renal disease. It’s been a tough road — full of hospital visits, setbacks, and moments where I didn’t know if I’d ever get this far. But after years of searching for the right surgical team and transplant program, I’m finally approved and officially active on the kidney donor list!

I can’t even put into words how grateful and excited I am for this chance — a chance at better health, more energy, and more time with my now 10 year old son. But as I prepare for this next step, I’m also facing the financial reality of recovery. After the transplant, I’ll need to stay close to the hospital for follow-up care, which means extra costs for housing, transportation, food, and medications. There’s even a chance my new kidney may be “sleepy,” and I could need dialysis for a while after surgery.

It’s hard to ask for help, especially when times are difficult for everyone, but any support — no matter how small — truly makes a difference. Your kindness brings me one step closer to healing and to finally living the healthy, fulfilling life I’ve been fighting for. ❤️
