Help Me Heal After a Life-Changing Car Accident
On Saturday, October 4th, 2025, my life was turned upside down.
While on my way to my second job, I was involved in a horrifying car accident caused by a young female driver who was driving behind me, whom recklessly decided to drive off the fast lane on to the left shoulder on top of grass proceeding to try and cut me off. When she realized there was a guardrail ahead, instead of stopping, she crashed into my vehicle. My car rolled over three times before coming to a stop — with me pinned inside.
I was conscious the entire time. I couldn’t feel my legs, but somehow I had just enough strength to reach over and turn off my car to prevent a fire. I lay there, stuck in my vehicle, terrified and in pain, for over 10 minutes before help arrived. Everyone is saying it’s a miracle I survived, in the photo you can see the car roof caving down an inch away from crushing my head.
I suffered a broken pelvis and, as a result, I’m now facing the hardest challenge of my life: learning how to walk again.
The medical team at Boston Medical Center told me that if I couldn’t begin using a walker within three days, I would need surgery. I found the courage and strength within me to stand — and now, on Wednesday, October 8th, I’ve been transferred to Whittier Rehabilitation Center in Bradford, MA to begin intensive physical therapy and continue my fight to walk again.
Every day is a struggle. I used to be completely independent — working two jobs, handling everything on my own. Now I feel like a toddler relearning the basics of life. It’s emotionally and physically exhausting. I break down often, but I keep reminding myself: I will overcome this.
Right now, I need help with anything I can get help for from medical expenses and rehabilitation costs, to transportation, living expenses, and basic needs while I recover. I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask for help, but I truly don’t know what lies ahead, and any support would mean the world to me.
Even just sharing this page helps.
Thank you to everyone who reads this, who supports me, and who sends love and prayers. I’m grateful for every single one of you. This journey is far from over, but I’m holding on to hope and pushing forward with everything I have.
With love and gratitude,
Jayven Torres.
